BPR&D Takes the Lead

The Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) has been designated as the Center of Excellence for 5G applications within the Ministry of Home Affairs. In alignment with this, BPR&D has officially launched the Vimarsh 2023 Hackathon with the primary objective of developing innovative solutions to address the challenges faced by Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs).

For this monumental undertaking, BPR&D has articulated nine distinct Problem Statements. To ensure a comprehensive approach, the Department of Telecom (DOT) and its subsidiary, Telecom Centre of Excellence (TCOE), have collaborated with BPR&D to organize the Hackathon. These Problem Statements, accompanied by detailed descriptions and multimedia content, can now be accessed on the dedicated website https://vimarsh.tcoe.in.

The Vimarsh 2023 Hackathon is set to embark on a journey of innovation and problem-solving, spanning three distinctive stages that seamlessly blend virtual and physical elements. The first two stages, dedicated to idea screening, will unfold in a virtual realm, while the third and final stage will come to life in physical locations equipped with 5G testbeds, private networks, and cutting-edge labs.

Stage I and Stage II, the virtual screening phases, will see creative minds from diverse backgrounds coming together to address complex issues. These stages will serve as the inception point for the groundbreaking solutions that the Hackathon aims to produce.

As the Hackathon progresses into the tangible realm of Stage III, the focal point shifts to nodal centers where 5G technology's real-world application comes into play. At these physical centers, expert jurors, drawn from notable organizations like BPR&D, I4C, DOT, and the industry, will meticulously evaluate the presented solutions.

The moment of triumph will arrive at the Valedictory Session in February 2024. Here, the winners across the nine Problem Statements will be unveiled, each awarded a substantial prize of Rs 1.5 Lakhs. This recognition is a testament to the exceptional innovation that the participants bring to the table.
