Father Falls Victim As Hacker Posts Daughter’s Morphed Photo On Escort Website

BENGALURU: The Halasuru police have launched a comprehensive investigation into a deeply concerning case of online extortion that revolved around the distribution of a manipulated photograph of a young girl on a website notorious for promoting escort services. The target of this disturbing act was a 45-year-old businessman residing in Halasuru. Falling victim to the sinister tactics of the fraudster, the incident prompted the police to file a First Information Report (FIR).

Unleashing Threats and Extortion

On July 29, the victim received an unexpected call from an unidentified number. During the call, the person on the other end claimed to have infiltrated the man's Facebook account and illicitly obtained access to all the photographs that he had shared on the social media platform. Initially dismissing the call as a potential hoax, the man's situation soon took a darker turn. Shortly thereafter, he received another call, this time accompanied by a menacing ultimatum – unless he transferred ₹12,000 immediately, incriminating photos tied to an escort service would be unveiled.

Regrettably, the ordeal did not conclude there. Within a span of just one hour, the victim found himself facing yet another monetary demand. Despite expressing his financial limitations, the businessman was met with a grave threat – the perpetrator vowed to publicly expose an image of his daughter on a notorious website known for advertising escort services.

Urgency Spurs Action

Confronted with the disconcerting possibility of his daughter's image being manipulated and shared inappropriately, the businessman felt compelled to take action. Seeking assistance, he promptly reported the extortion incident to the Halasuru police, who wasted no time in launching a thorough investigation into this disturbing matter.
